Turn on slow cooker
Open packaging of ham joint
Chop carrot, potato and peel and chop onion into 10cm length, put in slow cooker
Take Leaves of parsley, put stalks in slow cooker
Put ham in slow cooker
Put in apple juice (additional water if you want to make soup with juices)
Cook for 3 hours on high
Melt the butter and add the flour, beat to get rid of lumps. Should be glossy
Add milk gradually and salt and pepper to taste
Smooth thick sauce, take off the heat
Wash and pat dry the parsley to get rid of mud.
Chop parsley and add to sauce, mix in
Take joint out and vegetables and enjoy, pour over parsley sauce
(Add 4 handfuls of lentils to the slow cooker and cook for 3 hours to create a really filling soup)
2 great meals in one
Mark fat of ham into squares cutting through the fat with a knife. Don’t go into the meat. Put cloves into the squares. Make a glaze for the ham with 1tbsp sugar, 1/2 teaspoon mustard, 1 teaspoon honey. Put ontop of ham and bake in pre heated oven for 15 mins 170c.
Chop up leftover bits of ham and add them to the soup
