Cooked Ham, using the liquid to make really filling soup



Ingredients

Ham joint

1 onion

3 large carrots chopped

Parsley stalks - optional 

Water


to make juice into soup

300g red lentils, green lentils, split peas, barley, you can use just use red lentils

Hints & Tips

Method

Roughly chop onion and carrot

Add to slow cooker or saucepan

Open packaging and remove the ham

Add to the slow cooker or saucepan 

Add water and bring to boil

Reduce temperature and simmer for time on label

Take out and slice thinly 

Serve with carrot and onion

Soup 

Add the lentils to the soup kettle and cook till lentils are soft (2 hours)

Or add to saucepan and simmer for 30-40 mins
