Fruit Crumble





Ingredients

(2 dessert spoons = 1 tablespoon )

3 cooking apples or 4 eating apples or 2 medium cans
2 tablespoons (30g) sugar (to taste)
or use a can of any fruit

Crumble topping

9 tablespoons (100g ) plain flour
7 tablespoons(50g) porridge oats
3 tablespoons(80g) margarine (in a block better)
2 tablespoons (30g) sugar

Hints & Tips

Cinnamon or mixed spice to flavour (put it in with the fruit)


You can use Any fruits in season, sultanas or raisins to the apple, add blackberries to the apple, pears with the apple.

The crumble topping can be used in savouries, (without sugar) on top of cooked carrots, potatoes, leeks.


Method

!.  Switch the oven on 180 C/350F/Gas 4

2. Take out the core and chop the apples into chunks (Peel if you want).
  Sprinkle with sugar.  If cans don't need extra sugar

3. Put flour, sugar and porridge oats in the bowl. 

4. Rub the margarine in using your fingertips.

5. Put apples in base of the cooking dish, sprinkle the crumble on top.

6. Bake in the oven for 30-40mins until the crumble is slightly brown and the fruit below is cooked.
